How to prepare ground for a new lawn?

Hello, guys! I want to start a new lawn on the plot. The old lawn is already old and overgrown with weeds. I heard that just the cloth and composting is inefficient, and the chemistry can damage the soil. Someone advised using a sod cutter to remove the old grass from the roots. But I don’t know how to do it properly, so as not to damage the soil and make new plants grow. Is it possible to prepare the soil only with tools, or do we need chemicals and fertilizers?

It is important to remember that after clearing the old lawn, you need to pay attention to the soil: plow, remove the remains of grass and stones, add fertilizer if necessary. This approach ensures an even distribution of nutrients and improves the growth of new plants. Even without using a chemical, the soil will be better to perceive seeds or ready-made lawn rolls. In addition, smooth preparation of the plot allows to avoid water stagnation and root damage, which is important for a healthy lawn.

Use sod cutter to remove old grass. This tool cuts the lawn together with the roots and makes the soil ready for planting without chemistry. It preserves the structure of the land and makes it easier to plant a new lawn or flowerbed. You can then loosen the soil, check the pH and add fertilizer if necessary. Details of how sod cutter helps in this process can be read here: https://growcycle.com/learn/lawn-and-garden/lawn-care-tips-and-maintenance/why-a-sod-cutter-is-a-game-changer-for-lawn-renovation-projects . I used this method, and the new plants were cooked much better, than after digging or chemical treatment.
