Do institutions even use momentum indicators?

Honest question. Do big traders really use indicators like MACD or Stochastic? Or is this just retail stuff? Sometimes it feels like indicators are made for beginners, while professionals only watch order flow and volume.

I worked near prop traders before. They used very clean charts, but momentum filters were there. Not for entries, more like a “should we even trade this?” check. Simple, boring, effective.

Institutions definitely use momentum, just not the way YouTube shows it. This breakdown explains it well: https://forextester.com/blog/momentum-indicators-list/ . Momentum helps measure strength, not signal buys and sells. Funds care about whether a move has energy or is dying. That’s where these tools shine.
